Photo: Wind turbine goes up in Nunavik

Workers piece together one of the 40-metre-long blades that make up a new three megawatt wind turbine recently installed outside the Raglan nickel mine in Nunavik, roughly 100 kilometres south of Salluit. Coupled with a 1.8 MW wind energy storage system the pilot project is designed to reduce the 60 million litres of diesel needed to run the mine site each year.
