Photo: Young skier takes gold in Toonik Tyme ski loppet

Toinon Dutrievos, held aloft, celebrates winning the Toonik Tyme cross-country ski loppet April 16 in Iqaluit. The nine-year-old smiles broadly with Matthew Kwon, right, who came in second in the race, and Tommy Tremblay, who finished third. Strong winds and snow didn’t stop enthusiasts from coming out to watch and participate in the 1.8-kilometre race, hosted by Aniirajak, Iqaluit’s Ski and Adventure Club.
