Photo: You’re in the shot! Arviat Film Society ramps up again

Pan left: the Arviat Film Society, one of the most successful youth-driven training programs in Nunavut, is ramping up again in the south Kivalliq community. With about 10 new participants this year, the society meets every other week to explore a variety of skills related to film, video, new media and communications. With mentors and educators helping out, the society launched, in 2013, Arviat TV on Channel 19, in partnership with Isuma TV, the Canada Media Fund and Arctic Co-operatives. The society now boasts about 30 members including Inuit youth, elders, educators and mentors, ranging in age from 13 to 66 years old. (PHOTO BY ERIC ANOEE)
