Photo: Film screening spawns lengthy discussion about suicide

Tagalik, a Nunavut rapper, opened up about how suicide has affected his life after the Nunavut première of Sol — a documentary film about the death of Igloolik artist Solomon Uyarasuk in a local RCMP detachment cell in 2012. Marie-Helène Cousineau, the film’s director, stands to the right. A 45-minute discussion followed the film’s screening during which people expressed anger, sorrow and hope for the territory’s continuing struggle with high suicide rates.
