Young hockey players in Cambridge Bay got a welcome surprise this week: 54 bags of hockey equipment. A dozen bags of equipment were donated to the hamlet through an Ottawa Senators charity with help from local organizer Sharon Law, and the remainder were donated through the Hero's program in partnership with Reggie Leach. Leach, who played 13 seasons in the NHL in the 1970s and 80s, and his son Jamie, who also had an NHL career, read a Facebook post soliciting equipment from the Cambridge Bay Minor Hockey Association and decided to help out. Jamie and Reggie are expected to visit Cambridge Bay in February. (PHOTO BY KELCEY WRIGHT)
