Photos: Nunavik communities receive morgue facilities

Blink and you might miss it: that small white building, to the left of Inukjuak’s Anglican church, is the community’s new morgue. The Kativik Regional Government has already installed the refrigerated facilities six Nunavik communities, while the rest of the region will see their own facilities put in place by the end of the year. The addition of morgues in the region is in response to community concerns and requests for facilities dedicated to holding the bodies of deceased Nunavimmiut until they are buried.
