QIA calls by-election to fill Igloolik director position
April 30 by-election comes after the resignation of John Illupalik
The Qikiqtani Inuit Association announced March 5 that it will hold a by-election to fill a community director position in Igloolik that was vacated by the departure of John Illupalik, who resigned for personal reasons.
“We thank John for his service with QIA. It is important this position be filled as quickly as possible to ensure our Board of Directors is at full strength during this busy and important time with QIA,” said QIA President Okalik Eegeesiak.
QIA has called a by-election to be held on April 30.
The call for nominations opens March 12 and closes at 5 p.m. on March 26.
The chief returning officer for the by-election is Joanasie Akumalik.
