P.J. Akeeagok, the president of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association president, will take his open house tour to Sanikiluaq April 20 to April 22.

Akeeagok arrives in the Baffin community April 20, when he’s scheduled to take part in a radio phone-in show from 7 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The following day, Akeeagok will host a QIA open house at Sanikiluaq’s community hall from 11 a.m. to noon. Akeeagok will visit with elders in the afternoon.

And on the final day of his visit, April 22, Akeeagok will meet with students at Patsaali high school.

The purpose of the visit is to hear community concerns and share information on QIA’s services, the organization said in an April 16 release.

As part of his campaign to win the QIA presidency last December, Akeeagok promised to spend more time in Baffin communities, meeting with beneficiaries face-to-face.

The Dec. 8 election — which Akeeagok won after a recount — only attracted 31 per cent of eligible voters.
