Members of RCMP in the Pond Inlet executed a search warrant June 13 at a local residence where they seized 480 individual bags of marijuana, packaging material, scales, and $13,000 in cash.

In connection with this seizure, Alie Kippomee, 29, faces a charge of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, while Donald Kippomee, 26 and Patricia Kunilusie, 23, have each been charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

All three have been released from custody and will appear in the Nunavut Court of Justice in Pond Inlet on July 17.

Donald Kippomee was also charged for attempting to possess marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

This charge is connected to a seizure of a Canada Post parcel on April 3, which contained approximately 990 individual bags of marijuana.

“Drugs and alcohol are harmful to our communities,” said the RCMP in a June 21 news release.

The RCMP encourages members of the public to provide information on drug activities to their local RCMP detachment or to call Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477(TIPS) where they can remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000
