Coca-Cola’s “Arctic Home” white can campaign has received a frosty reception this holiday season.

So much so that the company stopped production of its limited edition white cans this week, replacing them with a red version.

Coca-Cola introduced the “Arctic Home” campaign earlier this fall to help raise awareness and money for the World Wildlife Fund’s Arctic programs.

As part of the campaign, the company launched a white can for the first time ever, featuring the images of a polar bear and her two cubs.

The white can was set to appear on store shelves through until February 2012.

And Coca-Cola pledged to contribute $2 million over the next five years to World Wildlife Foundation’s new “Last Ice Area” plan, intended to draw more attention to Arctic areas and polar bear habitats that are vulnerable to climate change.

While the campaign was well-received, its white can didn’t go over well with faithful customers of the iconic red-canned soda. Some customers even complained the beverage tasted different in the new can.

Coca-Cola received enough complaints about the white can that they opted to phase it out starting Dec. 1, said a company release.
