A suspended RCMP constable who is currently living in Arviat is facing charges related to an incident alleged to have occurred June 8.

Constable Ian Kaulback will appear in Arviat court Aug. 18 to face one count each of careless storage of a firearm, breach of recognizance, and mischief under $5,000, a June 12 RCMP news release said.

“In the early morning hours of June 8, 2014, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s Arviat detachment responded to a disturbance at a residence in Arviat,” the release said.

An investigation led to Kaulback being charged. The release refers to the constable as “a suspended RCMP member.”

Ian James Kaulback was charged in February 2013, while serving in Hopedale, Labrador, with unlawfully luring a child under the age of 16 by means of a computer.

According to media reports, the alleged offence took place between Feb. 1 and Feb. 8, 2013 in Hopedale.

Kaulback was later released on bail and pleaded not guilty to the charge in Happy Valley-Goose Bay provincial court July 9, 2013.
