Three Iqaluit residents will contest two vacant positions on the Iqaluit District Education Authority Oct. 28, following the close of nominations Sept. 30, Iqaluit’s chief returning officer said in a news release.

The deadline for nominations in the Iqaluit DEA vote first closed this past Sept. 23.

But Ejesiak extended the nomination period by one week after no nominees appeared by the normal deadline.

Iqaluit voters will also go to the polls Oct. 28 to choose a city councilor from among four hopefuls who were nominated Sept. 23

They are: Douglas A. Cox, Lewis MacKay, Stephen Mansell, and Noah Papatsie.

Three people are contesting two positions on the Commission scolaire francophone du Nunavut: Luc Brisebois, Manon Painchaud and Michel Potvin.

All three Iqaluit municipal votes will run at the same time as the Nunavut territorial election that’s also scheduled for Oct. 28.

Polling stations for city and school board elections will be located at the cadet hall and Abe Okpik Hall in Apex.

On election day, municipal voters will mark paper ballots, which will be counted by a tabulation machine.
