Two members of Nunavik’s Kativik Regional Police Force were honoured last week at the annual meeting of the Quebec Native Chiefs of Police when they received medals for their long employment in the force.

On June 5 Sgt. Tommy Cain Jr. of Tasiujaq received the “Exemplary Service Medal of the Chancellery” for his 20 years of service in the police force while Chief Aileen MacKinnon received the “Sûreté du Québec Community Service Medal” for her 15 years with the force.

“The dedication, commitment and perseverance of Tommy Cain Jr. and Aileen MacKinnon are inspiring and deserve to be recognized,” said Maggie Emudluk, chairperson of the Kativik Regional Government, in a June 7 statement.
