The Aboriginal People’s Television Network, or APTN, is looking for an on-air and social media host for their 10th annual Aboriginal Day Live event in Winnipeg on June 25.
If you’re an Inuk who dreams of a career in television, here’s an opportunity.
The Aboriginal People’s Television Network, or APTN, is looking for an on-air and social media host for their 10th annual Aboriginal Day Live event in Winnipeg on June 25, an April 12 statement from the broadcaster said.
The one-day event of family-friendly activities, scheduled to coincide with National Aboriginal Day on June 25, will end with a concert showcasing award-winning and rising Aboriginal music stars, APTN said.
The event, to be held all day at The Forks in Winnipeg, will feature “award-winning and on the rise, Aboriginal artisans, musicians, and entertainers from across Canada,” APTN said.
The host, who according to the statement will be a “fun, upbeat and energetic Aboriginal person,” will provide on-air commentary about the social media conversation on the event itself before providing backstage social media updates from the concert.
To apply, you must be of First Nation, Métis or Inuit descent, a Canadian citizen at least 18 years old and be able to work in Winnipeg from June 22 to 26, APTN said.
“APTN encourages you to focus on your natural talent, personality and charm. Just be yourself and submit a straightforward, unedited presentation. Masterpieces are not mandatory,” said the statement.
Those interested in the job must submit a password-protected link to a three-minute video by midnight on April 22 to opencall@aptn.ca.
“Include any other information that brings your personality, and this is the part where you can really turn heads,” the statement said.
The winning applicant will be chosen by mid-May, and will have their travel and accommodation expenses covered, APTN said.
For more information, you can email APTN’s communication manager, Jacqueline Jubinville, at jjubinville@aptn.ca or (204) 947-9331 ext. 339.
APTN will announce a full line-up for the event on May 19.
