The Kativik Regional Government’s transportation department has launched an investigation into a Dec. 9 incident at the Kangiqsujuaq airport where two employees were discovered joyriding on the airstrip.

The driver and his passenger were in a private vehicle and no injuries were reported, said the KRG statement.

But the duo had allegedly been drinking and the joyride took place in the morning, not long before an Air Inuit flight was scheduled to arrive from Salluit.

The Kativik Regional Police Force has yet to lay charges as the investigation continues.
