Strahl names Nellie Kusugak as Nunavut deputy commissioner
Respected educator would act as backstop to commissioner

Chuck Strahl, the northern affairs minister, announced Jan. 15 that Nellie Kusugak of Rankin Inlet, a respected educator, will serve as Nunavut’s next deputy commisioner.
The deputy commissioner’s job is part-time, and mainly involves filling in for the commissioner when the commissioner is not available or unable to to carry out his or her duties.
Kusugak has worked as a teacher and education administrator in Nunavut since 1986.
Her most recent job is an instructor’s position at Nunavut Arctic College in Rankin Inlet.
