8 mushers to take on Nunavut Quest starting Tuesday

Thousands of dollars in cash prizes are up for grabs as eight mushers prepare to take on the 2025 Nunavut Quest.
The annual dogsled race, in its 26th edition, is set to begin Tuesday in Pond Inlet and finish about a week later in Igloolik, the Qikiqtani Inuit Association said in a news release. The two communities are about 394 kilometres apart.
This year’s racers are Donovan Qaunaq, Tom Naqitarvik, Isaac Irngaut, Joshua Qiliqi Ivalu, Jinneal Nanuraq Uttak, Lee Inuarak, Daniel Inuarak and Aiden Qaunaq.
Each of the participants will earn a cash prize depending on how they finish: $20,000 for first place; $15,000 for second; $10,000 for third; $5,000 for fourth; $2,500 for fifth; and $2,000 for sixth through eighth.
