Nunavut boy, 16, faces 2nd degree murder charge
Lucassie Emikotailak, 27, found dead May 2 in Sanikiluaq
A 16-year-old boy from Sanikiluaq now faces a charge of second-degree murder following a week-long police investigation into the sudden death of a Sanikiluaq man on May 2.
The boy, whose name may not be published or broadcast because of his age, appeared before youth court May 11 in Iqaluit. The matter was adjourned until May 17.
The charge arises from the death of Lucassie Emikotailak, 27, whose body was found May 2 near a house in Sanikiluaq.
The 16-year-old was charged May 8, after serious crimes and forensic units from the Nunavut RCMP flew into the community to investigate.
