Taloyoak family accused of drug trafficking
Mom, dad and son all face charges
Three members of a Taloyoak family — mother, father and son — all face charges following a search that police conducted on their residence March 7, said an RCMP press release issued March 10.
In the search, police seized marijuana with a street value they estimate at about $4,500, as well as $6,400 in cash, and scales.
Napachee Poodlat, 43, his wife Peggy Poodlat, 39, and son Nelson Poodlat, 19, are all charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
They are to appear in court June 7 in Taloyoak.
Also on March 7, police charged Robert Karlak, 32, of Arviat with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a controlled substance, and failure to comply with an undertaking.
Police laid the charges after searching a residence in Arviat, where they found marijuana, scales, packaging material, and money.
Police estimate the street value of the seized marijuana at $2,142.
Karlak is to appear in court Aug. 16 in Arviat.
