Cambridge Bay imposes Christmas booze ban
No alcohol orders from Dec. 20 to Jan. 2
The Cambridge Bay hamlet council voted Nov. 29 to ban the transportation of alcohol into the community for a 14-day period starting Dec. 20 and ending Jan. 2.
At the same meeting, hamlet councillors voted to double the community’s Christmas recreational programming budget, from $10,000 to $20,000.
Under the Liquor Act, Nunavut municipalities may impose as many as three special bans on the importation of alcohol each year.
