Meter tampering could cause burns, electrical shocks
The Qulliq Energy Corp. issued a warning to Iqaluit residents March 11 urging people not to tamper with their power meters.
“Tampering with an energized meter may very likely lead to serious injuries such as burns or electrical shocks, and may also lead to death,” the QEC said in a public service announcement.
The QEC said “a number of cases of meter tampering” have come to light in Iqaluit over the past seven days.
Anyone aware of a case of meter tampering should contact the RCMP, the corporation said in its PSA.
