Young man, 20, fled courthouse parking lot

Tommy Nauyuk, 20, escaped police custody March 2 while being escorted to a vehicle outside the Iqaluit courthouse and was apprehended March 3 after police received a call from a member of the public.
The Iqaluit RCMP have apprehended a young man who escaped police custody in the early afternoon of March 2 outside the Nunavut courthouse building in Iqaluit.
Tommy Nauyuk, 20, ran away while being escorted to a police vehicle parked at the courthouse lot. Police had arrested him March 1 in connection with an allegation of domestic assault.
Police found Nauyuk at around 6:40 p.m. on the evening of March 3 after they received a call from a member of the public.
Nauyuk now faces charges of escaping lawful custody and resisting arrest.
