Miscreant Nunavut Mountie gets probation for two assaults
RCMP member still subject to code of conduct investigation
A Nunavut RCMP member convicted of two assault charges laid this past March 14 will serve 12 months on probation under the terms of a conditional discharge granted June 1 by the Nunavut Court of Justice.
Const. Eric Ootoovak, whose last posting was with the Iqaluit detachment, was charged with the offences following a disturbance at a residence in Pond Inlet.
At the time, Ootoovak was off duty on an approved extended leave from the RCMP.
The RCMP are still doing a investigation into Ootoovak’s conduct under the RCMP Act, an RCMP news release issued June 3 said.
