Police charge Iqaluit duo with weed trafficking
Raid nets $55,000, scales, marijuana
The Nunavut RCMP drug section seized $55,000 in cash and 100 grams of marijuana April 6 after executing a search warrant on house 445 in Iqaluit, police said in a news release.
Police, who also found scales and “drug paraphernalia,” said they were led to that location by “tips received from the public.”
Shawn Edwards, 41, of Iqaluit, and Wendy Kootoo-Kovic, 37, of Iqaluit, are charged with possession of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
They are to appear in court May 27 in Iqaluit.
A third person arrested in the raid, a man whose name police did not disclose, is to appear in court on May 27 also, to face a charge of possession of marijuana.
