RCMP rule out foul play in death of Pond woman
Autopsy result shows death not caused by another person
The Nunavut RCMP said Feb. 4 that a Pond Inlet woman who appeared to have died in uncertain circumstances was not a homicide victim.
On Jan. 26, police found the lifeless body of Reesie Kasarnak, 29, at a residence in Pond Inlet.
Treating the matter as a “suspicious death,” police sent major crimes and forensic identification investigators to Pond Inlet to begin an investigation.
But the results of an autopsy conducted Jan. 29 in Ontario revealed that “no foul play is suspected” in the woman’s death, an RCMP press release said.
Police have already told family members about the information revealed by the autopsy.
