Airut court-date set

IQALUIT — A Rankin Inlet man charged with first-degree murder will appear in court in September.

Yvo Airut Jr., 22, is charged with the death of Joachim Tartuk, 41, also of Rankin Inlet.

Police say Tartuk died Dec. 18 following an altercation in Airut’s home.

Airut will go before the court for a preliminary inquiry into the crime on Sept. 12 in Rankin Inlet.
