Amagoalik suspended
IQALUIT — John Amagoalik has been suspended from his job at the Qikiqtani Inuit Association.
Commonly called “the father of Nunavut” for his decades-long work on the land-claims agreement, Amagoalik is the executive director of QIA. He was named to the job just over a month ago.
QIA officials are releasing few details concerning the suspension, and declined comment when questioned by Nunatsiaq News about the reason for, or duration of, the suspension.
They said more information will come after a meeting of the QIA executive committee.
