A fire in a single unit in Building 315 in Iqaluit Friday night was quickly brought under control, City of Iqaluit spokesperson Geoff Byrne said in an email.
Firefighters responded to the report of a fire in the Lower Iqaluit building at about 6:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.
The fire was contained to the one unit and all other residents were allowed to return to their homes afterward, Byrne said.
The scene was cleared before 8 p.m. with support from municipal enforcement officers, RCMP, the Iqaluit Housing Authority and the public works department.
Representatives from the Iqaluit Housing Authority did not respond to a request for details about the status of the affected apartment’s tenant as of midday Wednesday.
