The Apex Bridge will close to traffic from Monday through Friday this week.
“This closure is necessary to allow crews to prepare the bridge for the installation of pavement at the bridge’s approach, which is scheduled to occur later this summer,” said city spokesperson Geoffrey Byrne July 18 in a public service announcement.
The city advises residents to use the Angel Street bypass as an alternative route.
Constructed in November, the Apex Bridge is located on Niaqunngusiariaq Road, the main route in and out of Apex. It spans the Niaqunguk River and includes a pedestrian walkway on one side.
It replaced the previous bridge, which was 69-years old.
