Aqpik berry-picking pros

Kuujjuaq’s Aqpik Jam Music Festival didn’t happen this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, but the community’s recreation committee went ahead with the event’s usual daytime activities, including the aqpik berry-picking contest, which saw 65 registered participants. Here are the winners, from right to left: Susie L. Angnatuk and Maggie Angnatuk (tied for first and second place, with 16.5 pounds each), Jeannie A. Gordon and Susie M. Angnatuk (tied for third and fourth place, with 14.1 pounds), Annie Annanack Jr. (fifth place, with 13.8 pounds), Mary Imbeault (sixth place, with 13.5 pounds), Penina Saunders (seventh place, with 11.8 pounds), Mary Mesher (eighth place, with 11.5 pounds), Ina Saunders (ninth place, with 11.4) and Sammy Snowball (tenth place, with 11.3).
