Aqpik Jam celebrates 30 years
Four-day festival will feature returning acts, new performers and community activities during the annual aqpik harvest

The Aqpik Jam Music Festival is celebrating 30 years of music, culture and community in Kuujjuaq.
Held during the annual aqpik — or cloudberry — harvest, this year’s festival runs from Aug. 11 to 14 at the town hall.
Organizers posted the lineup on Facebook on Monday. Returning acts include Beatrice Deer, Kathy Aputiarjuk and Nunavik Rocks, a music program for children and youth whose participants perform at festivals.
The lineup also features Angava, Ilagiit, Inuk Kid, Julia Lucassie, Qaumariaq, Qimutjuit, Yama and other performers.
Kuujjuaq Pinguatitsijingiit Inc., the village’s recreation committee, will also host community activities from Sunday to Friday.
A quadrathlon — a competition in swimming, running, shooting and biking — for Inuit beneficiaries is scheduled for Aug. 11, with cash prizes available. Other activities, including aqpik-picking, a canoe race and darts, are open to everyone in the community.
