Arctic Co-ops meet
IQALUIT — More than 70 delegates from across the Northwest Territories, northern Manitoba and Nunavut met this week in Winnipeg for the annual general meeting of the Arctic cooperatives system.
The theme for this year’s meeting was “cooperatives investing in communities.”
There are currently 36 member co-ops in the federation of co-ops. In 2000 they reported a revenue increase of 11.6 per cent and their assets rose by 10.9 per cent.
The co-ops, which are owned and controlled by 16,234 members, employ nearly 700 people.
