Peewee players recognized by city
Members of Iqaluit Blizzard hockey team, which won the Bell Capital Cup tournament in Ottawa Jan. 1, received certificates of recognition at Jan. 9’s council meeting.
Mayor Elisapee Sheutiapik told council about the Iqaluit Blizzard hockey team’s victory.
“It was a great way to start the New Year,” Sheutiapik said.
The mayor sang the team song with Blizzard members, and then handed out the certificates.
The Blizzard came first out of 47 teams in double-overtime with a 2-1 win over the Cumberland Arctic Wolves.
