Art from Inukjuak on display in Montreal
Artwork by clients at Inukjuak’s Tasiurvik Reintegration Centre — Nunavik’s regional centre for the mentally ill — is on display in downtown Montreal for the second year in a row.
The works are part of a special art exhibition, which mixes work from well-known artists with those who have turned to art for its therapeutic value.
The show, Parle-moi d’Amour (speak to me of love), is a fundraising activity for La Fondation Les Impatients, which runs art therapy workshops in Montreal. It’s also designed to make people more sensitive to mental illness, which strikes one out of five Quebecers.
The artworks, which are also for sale, will remain on display until early March. They can be seen Tues. to Fri., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sat. from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 100 Sherbrooke St. E. in Montreal. There is no charge for admission.
