IQALUIT — The first feature-length Inuktitut film is about to debut in Iqaluit.

Atanarjuat, produced by Igloolik Isuma Productions, will be shown at Iqaluit’s Astro Hill Theatre on Monday, March 18.

The film will be open to the public at the regular admission price.

Directed by Zacharias Kunuk, Atanarjuat is the first full-length movie to be written, acted and produced by Inuit.

Isuma describes Atanarjuat as a “historic legend of power, intrigue, love, jealousy, murder and revenge told entirely from the Inuit point of view.”
