Attempted murder charge laid

Police have charged a man in Iqaluit with attempted murder, accusing him of breaking into a home and stabbing a 21-year-old woman several times with a knife.

Willie Noah, 27, also faces charges of unlawful confinement and break and enter stemming from the incidents, which occurred between July 28 and 30 this year.

Police say Jean Lee of Iqaluit suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but had to be flown to Ottawa for medical attention.

Noah is scheduled to appear in court in Iqaluit on September 1.
