Baby spinach recalled due to salmonella concerns
Contaminated foods may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause sickness
Nunavut’s Department of Health is alerting residents about a food recall for baby spinach that may be contaminated with salmonella.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued the recall on Nov. 28. The baby spinach is sold under the Fresh Attitude brand in 142-gram and 312-gram packages.
Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause sickness.
Short-term symptoms can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Young children, pregnant women, elders and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.
If you think you have bought the recalled spinach, return it to where you bought it or throw it away.
If you have any of the symptoms of salmonella, contact your local health centre.
