Baffin Fisheries’ new fishing vessel Inuksuk II has returned to its manufacturer in Turkey for further repairs before resuming its journey to Canada.

On Oct. 15, the 80-metre factory freezer trawler experienced engine troubles while travelling from Turkey to St. John’s, N.L., and was forced to dock for close to two weeks in Greece for repair work.

The vessel’s 15 crew members remained in Greece while repairs were carried out.

According to the website MarineTraffic.com, the Inuksuk ll left the port of Skaramagas, Greece, on Oct. 28 to return to Tersan Shipyard in Yalova, Turkey, where it was built.

In an interview earlier this week, Baffin Fisheries CEO Chris Flanagan said the ship would go there to have its auxiliary engines repaired.

After the repairs, it is estimated that vessel will be back in operation in two weeks, he said at the time.

Flanagan did not respond to a request for an update on the ship Thursday.
