Baker Lake hockey team’s tournament action cut short
The Baker Lake Atoms pose for a team photo during a hockey tournament over the weekend in Rankin Inlet. The hockey team returned home disappointed Jan. 20; the Atoms were scheduled to play a 12:45 playoff game that could have secured their fifth-place finish in the tournament. But the team had to forfeit the game to catch their flight home, which ended up being delayed anyway. Parents say tournament organizers need to do a better job scheduling flights for these events, so athletes can participate fully. (PHOTO BY JOSEPH AUPALUKTUQ)

why is our community always the blame?? dont we do so much for other communities?? didnt they have a evening plane to catch?? I heard the parents were not happy so they tried catching a early flight and forfit their own game, and mother nature we cant control that too…
Rankin paid there way and gave them there iteniary. Look at it. There’s no change fee. Maybe try find raise ur own coin and book ur own flights. Try it out. We know u can’t.
Your community organizes it so should it not be there deal? how much money you get from Sport Nunavut to run it lots, two above comments are in pretty poor taste and don’t reflect the Rankin I know and have visited for hockey.
Kids should be able to see the whole tournament even if they aren’t playing in the finals its part of the experience. Poor planning and didn’t have the kids in the best interest.
I agreed the kids should have watched even if they lost..the only way to witness and learn..I hope this is prevented in the future with the use of communication tools available..btw negatives comment can be tracked with access to information and privacy rights for those who use fetish usernames
