Boil water advisory issued for Baker Lake
Precautionary measure due to cloudy water
The Hamlet of Baker Lake is under a boil water advisory, Nunavut’s Department of Health says.
The advisory is a precautionary measure because of high turbidity, or cloudy water levels.
The department reminds residents that all water must be brought to a boil for a minimum of one full minute.
Water used for drinking, infant formula, juices, ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking and brushing teeth must be boiled, the department says.
Water can be boiled in a pot, stove top kettle, or an electric kettle without an automatic shut off.
