An 11-year-old boy was injured after shooting himself in the foot while hunting near Kangiqsujuaq, according to the Nunavik Police Service.

The boy was carrying a .22-calibre rifle when the accidental shooting occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Chief Jean-François Morin said in an email to Nunatsiaq News.

“He believed the safety was on but it was not, and he accidentally shot himself in the foot,” Morin said.

He said the boy was treated for his injury at the local health centre.

    Hopefully there was an adult around when this happened if not kids always with gun parents don’t care what happens anymore all they want is free $$ free hand outs
