Breaking trail
Kuujjuaq’s new Akianut trail opened on Sunday, Jan. 26, and those who attended the opening ceremony afterwards went on a snowshoe hike along the three-kilometre path outside town. The project was started during the summer of 2018 by Réseau Qajaq Network and sponsored by the Nayumivik Landholding Corporation. Most of the path was built by volunteers and men serving community work sentences. (Photo by Isabelle Dubois)

Please respect the trail as it was used by our ancestors.
The community workers should just go around public buildings, shovel entrances, get some fresh ice for the elders for making fresh tea, not just doing southerner’s style work.
Our culture is fading, our elders use to teach people who use to do some wrong doing to their own citizens, elders use to teach them in the past, go help out an elder that are in need of help at home, doing chores for the elders, get some fresh ice for making tea.
Remember they are our people!
