Brother of dead baby remains in custody

The man charged in Rose Ruth Kaitak’s death in early August, her brother Nulukie Kaitak, 19, will remain in detention until his next court appearance in January, 2005.

The 15-month old baby girl died after being hit by a bullet discharged from a rifle in the room beneath her.

Shortly after the incident, Kaitak was charged with manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death and dangerous use of a firearm.

Any time Kaitak now serves in preventive detention will be subtracted twice from any sentence he may receive.
