Budget 2001: departmental spending

IQALUIT — Nunavut’s 12 government departments will spend $679.5 million in 2001-2002.

The mammoth education department will spend $174.8 million, while the tiny culture department will spend only $7.4 million.

• Legislative Assembly: $9.9 million

• Executive and Intergovernmental Affairs: $8.6 million

• Finance and Administration: $39 million

• Human Resources: $18.5 million

• Justice: $38 million

• Public Works: $92.6 million

• Community Government and Transportation: $78.4 million

• Culture, Language, Elders and Youth: $7.4 million

• Education: $174.8 million

• Health and Social Services: $123.4 million

• Sustainable Development: $34.3 million

• Nunavut Housing Corporation: $54.6 million
