Budget highlights

• $7.7 billion over five years to enhance security, including $2.2 billion for air security, $1.6 billion for policing, $1.2 billion for border security, $1.2 billion for defence, $570 million to expand capacity to deal with nuclear and biological threats and $1 billion for increased screening of entrants to Canada;

• $185 million over two years to help Aboriginal children;

• $2 billion for a new infrastructure program;

• $1.1 billion over three years for skills, learning and research;

• $1 billion over three years for foreign aid; and

• $110 million to build and operate a broadband system to link research institutions including community colleges.
