IQALUIT — Cadets, aged 14 to 16, from all over northern Canada are flocking to Pangnirtung this week to begin two weeks of “adventure training” at a northern cadet challenge adventure centre.

Sixteen cadets from communities such as Cambridge Bay, Fort Simpson, Hay River, Inuvik, Whitehorse and Yellowknife will take part in mountaineering and eadership exercises and get an introduction to the culture and geography of Pangnirtung.

Another 16 cadets are to arrive July 30 and will train until Aug. 10.

The Canadian Cadet Organization is the largest federally-sponsored youth program in Canada, with more than 56,000 members.
