Canada Millennium Scholarship in Nunavut

Last week, people from the Canada Millennium Scholarship Fund were in Iqaluit to meet with government and labour representatives, Nunavut Arctic College and Nunavut Sivuniksavut and discuss whether its bursary meets the needs of Nunavut’s post-secondary students.

“Our students face enormous financial and personal costs. Bursary funding for students with limited financial resources is essential if they are to succeed in their studies,” said Nunavut’s education minister Ed Picco.

The Canada Millennium Scholarship Fund is a private, independent foundation that has awarded $1.5 billion since 2004 to students across Canada.

The foundation’s fund has provided $250,000 a year worth of bursaries to Nunavut students, through the Financial Assistance for Nunavut Students program.
