Canadian North has begun to dispatch flights again but delays are expected, after a major internet outage forced the airline to put all its flights on hold Friday.

The northern airline, which operates flights across the territories, tweeted the update at 10:40 a.m. ET.

A massive Rogers network outage began affecting internet service cellphones and debit machines across Canada early Friday morning.

The statement from Canadian North released several hours into the outage said the company has connected to a backup internet connection, but warned customers that delays are expected.

The statement also advised that customer care is currently offline but the airline website remains operational.

More to come …
