Candidates aplenty for Makivik’s executive

IQALUIT — On Friday, April 6, during the final day of the Makivik’s annual general meeting in Kuujjuaraapik, Nunavik’s birthright corporation will hold elections in every Nunavik community as well as in the Montreal area for two new executive members.

Up for election are the positions of vice-president for economic development and corporate secretary.

In the running for vice-president are Adamie Alaku, Harvey Mesher, Aisara Kenuajuak, Robbie Tookalak, William Tagoona, Charlie Tooktoo, Robert Watt and Eli Weetaluktuk.

For the position of corporate secretary the incumbent George Berthe faces Daniel Epoo and Kitty Gordon-Pearson.
