Carrying her weight
Keen assembly-watchers may have noticed Community Government and Transportation Minister Manitok Thompson lifting weights in the legislature this week.
She keeps it well-hidden, but Thompson keeps a small blue dumbbell under her desk in the House. She uses it to do wrist curls periodically during session.
You may have seen her wearing a cast recently, with a leopard-print scarf supporting her arm. She announced last month that she had surgery on her arm and was healing well. The cast was just removed.
The exercises help her strengthen the muscles in her arm — and perhaps alleviate her boredom during particularly drawn-out lines of questioning.
